OLLIE MCEVOY LOOKS TO CAPTURE ANOTHER IRISH JUNIOR OPEN TITLE

Entries for the 2018 Flogas Irish Junior Open Series are now open for all aspiring golfers aged between five and 18-years-old.

The series, which features qualifying events in all four provinces that lead to the final, is one of the biggest events of its kind in Europe.Screen Shot 2018-07-03 at 10.59.09

Golfers from across the world travel to compete in the tournament, which this year will culminate at Killymoon Golf Club in Co Tyrone on August 27-28.

The Ulster qualifier will take place at Holywood Golf Club, the home of Rory McIlroy, on Monday, July 16.

The series is supported by legendary golfer Gary Player, who has helped spread the appeal of the event worldwide and lends his name to the winner’s trophy.

Ballycastle’s Ollie McEvoy, who was just seven-years-old at the time, is the defending champion after he won the event last year.

“Taking home the Gary Player Trophy and then getting a message from Gary himself, one of the greatest golfers of all time, is something I will never forget,” Ollie said. “I can’t wait to defend my title this year.”

Series founder Michael Gallagher commented: “The support of Gary Player has allowed me to promote the Flogas Irish Junior Open Golf Series to millions around the globe and this year I plan on making the series the biggest and best to date.”

Players can book their places at www.irishjunioropen.com, with competitors urged to apply early.
