GARY PLAYER DESIGN SHINES BRIGHT AT SUN CITY

For the second time in three weeks Sun City’s two Gary Player-designed golf courses will be in the spotlight as the hosts of professional tournaments, with the Nedbank Golf Challenge now followed by the Gary Player Invitational presented by Coca-Cola. This week the Lost City Golf Course will host the South African leg of the global Gary Player Invitational series. The tournament starts on Friday with the official pro-am followed by the main 36-hole tournament on Saturday and Sunday. MAJOR BOOST FOR LOCAL PROS IN GARY PLAYER INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Gary Player’s passion for developing South African golf talent has seen the Black Knight invite four Sunshine Tour professionals to play in the pro-am of his Gary Player Invitational tournament presented by Coca-Cola, two of whom are part of the country’s new professional development squad. Lindani Ndwandwe, Makhetha Mazibuko, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Michiel Bothma, and Louis de Jager will play in the pro-am of Player’s prestigious charity series at Sun City’s Lost City Golf Course on Friday 24 November. BRANDEN GRACE JOINS THE GREATS IN NEDBANK GOLF CHALLENGE HISTORY

Branden Grace became the first South African winner of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in a decade at Sun City on Sunday, and South Africa’s greatest ever golfer was the first to jump out of his chair and hug him on behalf of thousands of fans. With a final round of 66, Grace won “Africa’s Major” by a single stroke on 11 under par and ended a win drought of South Africans in this event stretching back to Trevor Immelman’s triumph in 2007. “This is awesome. This is the one event that as a South African you want to win. It’s Africa’s Major for a reason and what a special place it is.
