FROM THE ARCHIVES: 1965 U.S. Open

On this day in 1965, Gary Player won the U.S. Open at Bellerive Country Club in an 18-hole playoff with Kel Nagle. His victory made him the third golfer to complete the Grand Slam. He donated his winnings to cancer research and junior golf programming.
