The power and majesty of the African elephant was thought to imbue the expandable bangle with almost magical properties. Hundreds of years later, the Mavros boys have revived the myth of the original 3-strand bangle by fashioning this ancient heirloom of Africa’s great warriors in sterling silver. Of all the different elephant hair bangles, the three strand-design was the most desired and prized. The sliding knot, designed by the ancient craftsman of Africa, allows the wearer to adjust the bangle to size. The unique double bend in the centre of the bangle is the “medallion” of the original 3-strand bangle. Forbes Mavros has skillfully hand crafted the unique knots & medallion feature into the centre of the bangle. In itself an ingenious piece of workmanship. Oval sections of sterling silver strands replicate the oval section of the tail hairs of an elephant.
