We Say Goodbye To A Legend

Seve Ballesteros will go down as one of golf’s greats, there is no doubt about it.  He had a flair for the dramatic whether on or off of the golf course.  He loved Spain and his Spanish heritage.  And most importantly he was good man.

“Seve was a special man and good friend and I will miss him terribly,” said Gary Player.  “There were many times I would literally scratched my head wondering what he could possibly be thinking when he hit a shot. It seemed to me that his decisions defied logic, or at least my logic,  but I’ll be darned if more times than not that ‘creative’ shot making didn’t result in a fantastic golf shot.  That was the kind of player and person he was and boy was it fun to watch,” he added.

“Off of the course Seve was a joy to be around.  One of the things that I respected and admired most about him was there was nothing fake about him.  The man you met was Seve, not a version of Seve that would change once the cameras and fans were not around.”

“Seve and I are both members of the Laureus World Sports Academy and we attended the awards celebration together for many years.  The Laureus Awards bring together some of the world’s greatest athletes and every year everyone wanted to meet and spend time with Seve.  In the midst of such athletic greatness Seve stood out and not because he was a great golfer.  It was because he was a great man.  That is how I will remember my friend Severiano.”
