Vintage Player Receives Top Rating from 2009 Platter Wine Guide

Nov 26, 2008 | Filed Under: General News | Comments: 3

“The recognition of great quality is always appreciated – and recognition by one of the leading wine guides in the world is, of course, high praise indeed.”  This was the response by Andrew Smith, General Manager of Black Knight Wine, to the news that the inaugural 2003 Gary Player Wine release has been awarded a four-star rating by a full panel of tasters in the soon-to-be launched 2009 John Platter Wine Guide.

Smith added: “The 2003 vintage is generally accepted to have been one of the best from Stellenbosch in many years – and the craftsmanship of our winemaker, Carl van der Merwe, has produced a wine that is in every sense a fitting tribute to Gary Player and his 1959 victory at The Open Championship at Muirfield.”

The John Platter Wine Guide is one of South Africa’s most successful publishing ventures – having itself been award the title of World’s Best Wine Guide in 2007.  The latest edition lauds the 2003 Gary Player Wine as: “Well made, befitting Gary Player’s ethos.”

Kerri Taylor says:

Are the wines available for purchase in the United States?  If so, where in Atlanta, Ga can I purchase them?
