A highly successful Nelson Mandela Invitational charity golf tournament last November outside Cape Town, South Africa has prompted presenting sponsor Coca-Cola to commit even greater resources to raising additional funds for the two beneficiaries, the Gary Player Foundation and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.
This greater commitment will see Coca-Cola become the auction sponsor of the annual Gary Player Invitational at Floridian in Palm Beach, Florida and thereafter become more involved in Black Knight International’s other charitable events around the world. Beginning in July in London, with the support of Coca-Cola, the existing three Gary Player events will become ‘satellite’ versions of the Nelson Mandela Invitational with the Gary Player Foundation and Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund acting as joint beneficiaries. This sequence of events - the Gary Player Invitational (Palm Beach), The Player Invitational (London) and the Gary Player Classic (Hong Kong) will wrap up in November with a grand finale of the Nelson Mandela Invitational in South Africa.
Doug Jackson, President of Coca-Cola Southern and East Africa has made it clear that he would like a playing spot in the Nelson Mandela Invitational, as well as its other satellite events that are part of the Series, to become the most sought after tee-time in the world of charity golf. In so doing, he is determined to raise substantial amounts of money for the two charities, both of which do exceptional work for children both in South Africa, the United States and other parts of the globe.
Commenting on these developments, Gary Player said, “This is an exceptional commitment that Coca-Cola is making and I know it’s going to make a very real difference in so many children’s lives. Isnt that just wonderful!”
