On 26-28 of March The Links at Fancourt in George, South Africa played host to the first ever European Senior Tour sanctioned event, The Berenberg Masters.  Gary Player was the tournament’s official host and the field sported some of Europe and Asia’s best senior players including Ryder Cup Captions Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam, Italy’s most decorated golfer Costantino Rocca and the Senior Tour’s hottest newcomer and tournament winner Thailand’s Boonchu Ruangkit.  The win marked Ruangkit’s third consecutive win and set the record for the quickest player to reach three victories in the history of the European Seniors Tour.

While the tournament itself was a rousing success the auction held to benefit The Player Foundation proved that charitable giving is still a priority.  The event featured golf memorabilia, autographed items and other luxury goods and raised R 1 Million for at risk children across the globe.  Gary Player was extremely excited about the success of the auction and the unwavering support of Berenberg Bank. “Dr. Hans-Walter Peters and his team from Berenberg Bank have been wonderful hosts and their efforts to help make the tournament and auction a success were fantastic.  I am honored to be a part of this event and look forward to coming back for many years to come.”
