The Player Foundation makes a difference in 2009

Although 2009 has been a tough economic year for just about everyone the spirit of helping needy children has not been diminished.  Over the course of 2009 The Player Foundation raised more than R 17.5 million and helped thousands of children across the world build a better future. The Yunnan Aids Foundation, St. Jude Research Hospital, American Horse Trials Foundation, Give to Colombia, ASLA EDSA Minority Scholarship Award, AJGA Bob Miller and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland, Oregon were among this year’s recipients of funds.  In addition, more than $50,000 in Gary Player memorabilia was donated to help raise funds for charities who’s mission is to help children in need.

Just a few months ago Callaway Golf, one of Mr. Player’s long time corporate partners stepped in to help the Cordevalle Youth Foundation.  The Foundation established in 2004 by Dr. Hasso Plattner, the founder of SAP and Alan Campey, Regional Vice President and Managing Director at CoredeValle, A Rosewood Resort, is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding access to the sport of golf for children of all income levels by directly supporting successful youth golf programs throughout Santa Clara County, California.  This past year Callaway Golf was kind enough to donate golf balls, hats, wedges, putters, Irons, and Drivers to help support The CoreDeValle Youth Foundation.

We also need to pay special thanks to all of the participants and guests who attended the four Gary Player Invitational tournaments in 2009 and those who made individual donations to The Player Foundation.  Their incredible generosity of time, enthusiasm and money helped to make these events and additional fund raising efforts a huge success and helped provide a better future for children across the world.
