Nelson was ranked as the fifth greatest golfer of all time by Golf Digest magazine in 2000.
The game of golf has lost one of its true legends. Byron Nelson was always an inspiration for me, not only because he was one of the finest swingers of the club the game has ever seen, but also because he was one of its true gentlemen. We could all learn a lot from his generosity and love of people, as well as his positive approach to life in general.
He will be missed, but not forgotten.
