The Cliffs at Mountain Park Takes Shape
Feb 20, 2008 | Filed Under: Golf Course Design
The Cliffs at Mountain Park, future home to Gary Player and the Gary Player Group’s North American headquarters, continues to grow and gain national recognition. A pre-construction release of The Cottages at Gary Player Estates is planned for this spring, and a limited number of homesites on the Gary Player Signature Golf Course are now available within the Gary Player Estates.
Set centrally in Mountain Park’s Village, the Gary Player Group’s new headquarters is nearing completion and will celebrate its grand opening this summer. Phase I construction of the Village at Mountain Park will also include business offices, retail space, and a concierge medical practice.
The Gary Player Signature Golf Course at Mountain Park is well underway – holes are taking shape as the design and construction teams contour the land. Of its 18 holes, the new Gary Player course at The Cliffs will feature 14 holes along the North Saluda River. Golf course development at The Cliffs is also getting greener with the introduction of The Cliffs Environmental Center for Golf Research, launched in October 2007 in partnership with Clemson University and a host of private-sector sponsors. This new research facility, recently featured in The Robb Report Collection’s annual “Green Living Issue” introduces organic turf grass plots and golf holes, with an on-site laboratory to test and generate best practices to benefit the entire golf and turf grass industries.
