Tea Entrepreneur Works with Gary Player to Aid Impoverished Children

Oct 9, 2009 | Filed Under: General News   Share

In an interview with the Greenville News, Zimbabwe native Raymond Levy proudly shared his association with fellow South African native and golfing legend Gary Player with the local community in the Upstate of South Carolina (Greer).

Levy is the chief executive officer of Amanzi Tea, a South Carolina-based company offering hundreds of types and flavors of organic loose teas from all over the world, whether white, green, oolong, black, maté or herbal teas like South African “rooibos” (red bush tea).

The company has long promoted the healthful benefits of tea, including aiding weight loss, increasing energy, promoting relaxation and helping the immune system. Through a partnership with The Player Group, a new benefit comes with purchasing tea: philanthropy.

This past summer, the two companies jointly released four signature blends of rooibos known as “The Grand Slam Rooibos Collection” in honor of the Black Knight’s legendary achievement. Gary Player has always felt very strongly that “we must look after our youth in order to ensure a positive future”, and therefore, sales will benefit The Player Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to bringing hope, help and healing to underprivileged children and impoverished communities worldwide.

Thanks to The Player Group’s impact on the Upstate of South Carolina with the opening of the company’s offices at The Cliffs at Mountain Park last year, “Rooibos” is the new buzz word around here. The tea is appreciated, in part, because it does not contain caffeine, is low in tannins and high in antioxidants. It tastes naturally sweet and is enjoyable iced or hot. Quite a different twist to the traditional Southern “Sweet Tea” (pronounced “sweeeet teeeea”). The tea is available at the Black Knight Shop, so “Y’all come on by and enjoy”!
