Royal Maluti Golf & Country Club: Where Untouched Beauty Meets a World Class Golf Estate
Jun 24, 2008 | Filed Under: Golf Course Design
Royal Maluti Golf & Country Club, a project planned in South Africa’s picturesque Eastern Free State, will aim to strike the golden balance between a world class entity and a generator for socio-economic development in the region. Components of the development include a golf club featuring two signature 18-hole courses by Player & Nicklaus, a five star boutique hotel, residential villas, equestrian amenities, sports & wellness facilities, a chapel and a village square.
Royal Maluti is the first community in Africa to boast two separate courses by Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus. The golf courses will be built according USGA specifications, and as such will be suitable for acclaimed international golf tournaments. The same approach applies to the boutique hotel which is aimed to be on the same level as what the best European, North American and other top destinations in the world offer.
Uniquely situated where the Maluti Mountains meet the Caledon River near the picturesque town of Clarens, space is the key to Royal Maluti. Developer Johan Pottas is creating a 1472-hectare community that resonates peace and tranquility, with 73% of the property being retained in its natural state as a habitat for birds, plants and wildlife. In keeping with the uniqueness and immense beauty of the property, the architecture will reflect international luxury while drawing inspiration from Mother Nature and Africa.
The project has received full approval from all authorities and construction is scheduled to begin in November.
