PowerPlay Golf’s Inaugural Event Featuring Gary Player Gains Momentum

May 17, 2011 | Filed Under: General NewsEvents & Tournaments   Share

PowerPlay Golf has announced that tickets for the first ever PowerPlay Golf Ignition event on the 30th of May have gone on sale.

Golf legend Gary Player heads the field for an innovative new golf event that rewards players for attacking difficult pin placements in a modified Stabelford scoring system.  Players score double points for net birdie or better when playing to the Black Flag (a PowerPlay) and single points for playing to the easier White Flag.  The trick is to decide when to take a risk and when not to because each player has a limited number of PowerPlays available during each round.  The final hole also plays heavily into the overall strategy because players are awarded multiple points for a birdie, but penalized heavily for failing to make par.

U.S. Open Champions Graeme McDowell and Paula Creamer along with PGA and British Open Champion John Daly, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey, Ryder Cup winning captain Colin Montgomerie and other top players will join the Black Knight to battle for the title of PowerPlay Golf Champion.

The event will air on Sky Sports 3 on May 30th at 17:00.
