Following up on the successful debut of the 1959 Muirfield in 2008 Black Knight Wine previewed Augusta 1961, the second of 18 vintages making up the Major Championship Series wine collection at the Gary Player Invitational in South Africa. The wine was met with excellent reviews from the tournament guests and the uniqueness of the label garnered much attention.
Over a twenty year period Black Knight International and the award winning Quoin Rock Vineyard in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa will launch 18 vintages comprising the Major Championship Series wine collection. Each vintage commemorates one of Mr. Player’s 18 Major victories and began with the 1959 Muirfield – the site of Mr. Player’s first Major championship.

Black Knight Wine is also pleased to announce that both the 1959 Muirfield and the 1961 Augusta vintages are making their way to Hong Kong and China. Through a newly formed partnership with the Wine Connoisseurs’ Club/Ming Ying Hui 铭英会 and its CEO William Rosenberger the 1959 Muirfield will debut in January 2010 with the 1961 Augusta following a few months later. Mr. Rosenberger is very excited about distributing Player Wine especially with the burgeoning popularity of golf and Mr. Player’s reputation as a true champion and ambassador of the game. Both vintages will be initially targeted to the golf enthusiasts thorough distribution at the premier golf clubs and courses in Hong Kong and China and will expand into other countries in South East Asia throughout 2010 and 2011.

We also would like to welcome Jane Taverson to the Black Knight Wine team. Jane is a veteran of the French fine wine industry and will manage the Player Wine business from the Cape Town office in South Africa.
