PGA National Resort & Spa Adds Gary Player Wine to their Champions’ Wine List

Black Knight Wine is pleased to announce that PGA National Resort & Spa has added the Gary Player Major Championship Series to its Champions’ wine list.  PGA National, located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, will begin offering the 2003 Murifield vintage as part of their tribute to golf’s greatest players.  The Murifield 2003 was a perfect compliment to PGA National’s excellent wine list given the high quality of the wine and Mr. Player’s long friendship with the club.  Over the course of his career, Mr. Player has won two Senior PGA Championships at the club and makes a point of returning almost every year to play tournament golf, practice or just play socially. 

The 2003 Murifield vintage is the first in a series of fine wine paying tribute to Mr. Player’s achievements over the course of his storied career.  Over the next two decades Gary Player Wine will release a range of fine wines celebrating Mr. Player’s eighteen Major Championships on both the regular PGA Tour and Champions Tour.  The 2003 Murifield is Bordeaux style red blending Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage and Shiraz grapes and commemorates Mr. Player’s first major championship win – The Open Championship at Murifield, Scotland.  It recently received an 89 rating from Wine Spectator and 4 out of 5 stars from Platter’s South African Wine Guide.  The wine is produced at Quoin Rock, an award winning boutique winery in the famous Stellenbosch region (pictured above) at the heart of the South African wine industry.
