Gary Player personally invited Kevin Sorbo ("Hercules") when they ran into each other at this year's Outback pro-am in Tampa, FL.
Gary Player Invitational, 2005 (March 6th - 8th)
This year the Gary Player Invitational will truly capture the essence of Palm Beach with the addition of Trump International Golf Club as the venue for “Evening with the Stars” presented by Lexus of Palm Beach.
The title “Evening with the Stars” says it all. The evening before teeing off at Wayne Huizenga’s very private golf course - the Floridian in Palm City, Florida - guests will join participating celebrities for a casual evening of cocktails, dinner and entertainment at the glamorous Trump International Golf Club. This year, we are proud to welcome newcomers Michael Douglas, Kevin Sorbo (aka Hercules), Poison’s Bobby Dall, NHL star Mario Lemieux, Miami Dolphins hero Jason Taylor, Growing Pains star Alan Thicke, model/actress Beverly Johnson and our other first-time celebrities. Returning stars include America’s most listened to talk show host Rush Limbaugh, baseball hero George Brett, Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres and tennis icon Ivan Lendl, to name a few.
On Monday, March 7th, Gary Player will host a breakfast and celebrity golf tournament at Floridian, which will be followed by an awards dinner and auction presented by Coca-Cola. The entertainment line-up will feature celebrity guest Edwin McCain, who has agreed to sing a couple of numbers, including the popular hit “I’ll Be.”
On Tuesday, March 8th, VIP guests will compete in a pro-am and then have the opportunity to dine with some of the greatest names in golf. Joining Gary Player in the field this year will be two-time US Open and defending champion Retief Goosen, Jack Nicklaus, Robert Allenby and Ian Baker-Finch.
