The PGA Tour selected Kenny Perry, a 14-time PGA Tour winner with two victories this year, including the Travelers Championship in Hartford, CT, as the 2009 winner of the Payne Stewart Award. The award goes to a tour player who shares Stewart’s respect and commitment to “the traditions of the game.”
Past winners include Jack Nicklaus, Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, Ben Crenshaw, and Gary Player. Stewart, an 11-time PGA Tour winner, died tragically during the week of the Tour Championship in 1999.
