Jumping in Line with Ever-Changing Technology

Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Blogs – Really?

“Tweet, tweet, tweet.”  The sounds of the latest technology craze are abuzz throughout the worldwide offices of Black Knight International – we are moving full steam ahead with incorporating Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and blogging into our overall corporate communications strategy.

You may be asking yourself what can a golf course design and real estate company possibly do with Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube?  We asked ourselves the same question and after some discussion we realized that Twitter, for example, would allow us to communicate short, but important bits of information quickly and unobtrusively to our clients.  Also, for those of us who have spent any time with Gary Player know that the man is truly entertaining so why not share his wittiness and penchant for saying whatever happens to be on his mind at the time with our clients and friends?  Stay tuned for what we all hope are some really funny stories and anecdotes from the World’s Most Traveled Athlete™.

On YouTube you can now find videos of Gary’s best known moments.  Clips range from great shots and tournament wins to some of his most memorable quotes caught on tape – anyone remember the great quote from his final press conference at this year’s Masters?  “I stood on the tee last year when I was waiting to play and there was a bit of a hold up, and I thought, damn it all, most of my friends at 72 are dead and I’m playing at the Masters? Most guys at my age, 73, have not seen their knees, never mind their private parts, for seven years.”  You can search for Gary’s video clips by clicking on the GaryPlayerGroup channel, or searching for Gary Player on YouTube.

On a slightly more serious note The Player Foundation will soon launch its own Facebook page to help raise awareness of the foundation and its mission to help underprivileged children across the globe.  The foundation is one of Gary Player’s true passions and we as a company take our role in raising funds very seriously.  We hope that Facebook will help drive new donations and continue to help The Player Foundation provide assistance to those children most in need.

Finally, Marc Player has entered the world of blogging.  We all know that Marc can tell a story with the best of them and more times than not make you laugh out loud.  So we decided to give him a regular forum to comment about the world of golf, the goings on within Black Knight International, the greatness of rugby as compared to football (not soccer - real football), why wearing all black makes one look so sharp and whatever else happens to cross his mind.  You will be able to read his thoughts and opinions and even post your own comments – anonymously for those who may, ahem, desire to remain nameless.  You can find his blog at marcplayersblog.blogspot.com.

We hope that our new endeavors prove useful to you, our clients and friends, and we welcome your comments and feedback.
