Gary Player Stud Farm Update

A view of the Gary Player Stud Farm House.
Having produced a beautiful crop of foals from the leading stallions in South Africa, it has indeed been a successful breeding season at the Gary Player Stud Farm in Colesberg, South Africa. The farm experienced much activity in 2006 - from breeding thoroughbreds to the construction of a new main house and nine-hole golf course.
The residence was completed just in time for the Player family to enjoy their first Christmas vacation in the new house, and the word is, it exceeded all expectations. The golf course, a personal project for Gary Player, is progressing well with work currently being done on the bunkers, greens and hazards. Uniquely set in the Northern Cape’s Karoo, Player took on the golf course as a personal project, as he views the stud farm as the ultimate getaway and a wonderful venue to entertain friends and family. His love for the outdoors inspired him to challenge the arid conditions of the Karoo by building - practically by hand - a water-saving golf course featuring distinctive bunker styles. Being the ‘hands-on’ person that he is, work on the course intensifies when Player has the opportunity to return to his farm during the year.
On the game front, Gary Player has added Waterbuck to existing herds of Wildebeest, Impala, Hartebees, Springbuck, Blesbuck & Gemsbuck.
