The Black Knight recently visited the site of Taiping Lake Golf Club in Anhui, China where a new Gary Player Signature course is about to enter the grassing stage. Player and Senior Designer Frank Henegan were welcomed by developers SPG who are well-known for high-end hotel and residential properties in the bund area of Shangai, including the world-renowned Peninsula Hotel.
Situated on the banks of Taiping Lake, China’s Anhui region was made famous by its dramatic views of Yellow Mountain - hence the area’s climbing tourism industry. The new 18-hole parkland-style course takes advantage of these spectacular views with elevated tee shots and six holes playing along the lake.
In addition to residential villas, GHM will introduce a luxury Chedi-branded hotel, targeted to target both international tourists and locals seeking an escape from city life.
