Gary Player Classic Benefits AIDS Orphans in China

The Gary Player Classic took place at Tianma Country Club in Shanghai, China

The Gary Player Classic was taken to a new level on November 7th as the event was staged at Tianma Country Club in Shanghai, China where Asia’s top executives spent a day on the course with the Black Knight and raised funds for AIDS orphans in China.

The Player Foundation, which traditionally champions the education of underprivileged children around the world, has expanded its mission to help impoverished communities stricken by the fatal HIV virus.  Echoing The Coca-Cola Company’s objective to make a positive difference in our communities, The Player Foundation partnered with Coca-Cola China and The Chinese Foundation for the Prevention of STD and AIDS to raise funds for a three-year program to support the AIDS affected children in Yunnan.  Through corporate sponsorships, auctions and donations, the charity golf event was able to raise almost RMB 2 million.

“Through the success of this year’s event and the immense generosity of our guests, we are grateful that a substantial fund was raised to help make a significant difference in the lives of AIDS orphans in China.” Said Mr. Li Chao-Lin, President of the Chinese Foundation for the Prevention of STD and AIDS. “The Player Foundation, founded by Gary Player, has undertaken exceptional charitable work and saved countless under-privileged children, not only in South Africa but throughout the globe through the organization of his renowned charity golf events.  We salute you for this great contribution!”
