Gary Player's design team was hired to do a major bunker renovation, which will redefine the strategy for the course.
On March 25th, 2005 Gary Player attended a celebration of the redesign of Pretoria Country Club - a club which has come to be a recreational landmark in suburban South Africa since it was founded in 1910.
Gary Player’s design team was hired to do a major bunker renovation, which essentially redefined the strategy for the course. Player has always believed that bunkering is the fundamental driver behind golf course strategies, and in this case, he felt that geo-textile bunkering would be a perfect fit in transforming the existing course. Feedback from the members “Good call Gary!” The bunkers, which are reminiscent of many British Open host venues, have proved to be a thrilling challenge for Pretoria Country Club members.
The Black Knight and country club members celebrated the re-opening with a round of golf, bunker instruction from Gary Player and a traditional South African ‘braai’ or barbeque.
