Gary Player Blog From The Mitsubishi in Hawaii

What a fantastic holiday Vivienne and I just had in South Africa at our ranch in the middle of the Karoo desert and our beach house in Plettenberg Bay with our youngest daughter Amanda and her family from Pennsylvania and our daughters that live in South Africa… Michele, Jenny and Theresa as well as their respective husbands and children.
There is nothing like family and nothing like the holidays to be surrounded by the love and hugs of your grandchildren. We had 26 people for breakfast every day and man these kids eat like it’s the last supper.
Every year Vivienne and I are excited to start the year in Hawaii and this year is no exception. I visited Callaway Headquarters late last year to test my new equipment and to get all of my clubs “legal” for the new year. I hit the links every morning by 6 a.m. over the holidays with the new clubs in anticipation that my “Wendy’s Skins” partner Loren Roberts and I will have a strong showing on the golf course against Fuzzy and Ben, Jack and Tom and Fred and Nick. We’re looking forward to the competition and camaraderie!
I am also looking forward to once again break or better my age at Hualalai just as I did last year during every round of the Mitsubishi Championship in Kona. I truly enjoyed playing in the Pro-Am and meeting and working with the Mitsubishi team and their clients each day, what a fantastic event they put on in such a special place.
Following Hawaii there is no rest as I am off to Abu Dhabi for the opening of our newly designed Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and then Brazil for work on what we hope will be the new course for the Olympic Games in 2016.
