Coca-Cola Committed to Making a Difference at Charitable Golf Events
Jun 15, 2005 | Filed Under: The Player Foundation
The Gary Player Invitational presented by Coca-Cola and hosted by Ronan Keating will take place at the K Club in Ireland on July 17th and 18th…
Coca-Cola’s involvement in the event emanated from the company’s long-term commitment to South Africa’s premier charity golf tournament - the Nelson Mandela Invitational hosted by Gary Player. Last July, Coca-Cola extended its commitment to underprivileged children by agreeing to act as presenting sponsor of the Gary Player Invitational, staged at The Grove in London. A successful event, followed by the best-ever Nelson Mandela Invitational in South Africa last November, assured Coca-Cola that the move to the K Club in Ireland this year would make for another rewarding event for both the charities and the sponsors.
Three new companies - Pringle of Scotland, Davenport Lyons & BMW, Ireland - have since come on board, as well as Boschendal which has returned as the Official Wine Sponsor.
Doug Jackson, Executive Vice President and Operations Director Coca-Cola Africa, said in response to the sponsor announcements: “This event is a very important cause-related exercise for Coca-Cola. We welcome such notable brands and market leaders into partnership with the GPI, and look forward to their support in helping us raise much-needed funds for underprivileged children in South Africa. This years event is set to be a great occasion.”
