Artist Patrick Mavros Expands Partnership with The Player Foundation and Black Knight Shop

The Player Foundation and the Black Knight Shop are pleased to announce a new partnership with celebrated artist Patrick Mavros.  Mr. Mavros, a native Zimbabwean, is world renowned for hand-sculpting truly unique African themed jewelry, sculptures and home décor items and custom designed the trophy for the Gary Player Invitational tournament in South Africa.  His work is derived from a lifetime love of Africa - especially the stunning and diverse wildlife found in the Southern regions of the continent.  Each piece is designed by hand and has its own unique story, adding considerably to its charm and ultimately its value.

Patrick Mavros began his career as a sculptor and designer almost by accident.  27 years ago Patrick married the love of his life Catja, and as a wedding present he carved her a pair of rose earrings from a piece of ivory.  The earrings were so unique and beautiful he was soon inundated with requests from friends for similar objects.  Thus, his ultimate career as a master sculptor was born.  With most of his early pieces being carved from ivory, the environmentally passionate Patrick, with his deep affinity for the wildlife of Africa, turned to silver as a medium in order to meet both the growing demand for his work, and to stay true to the purity of his subject – wildlife. And as the Mavros reputation grew, so did Patrick’s range; after 25 years it today comprises over 450 individual items from – literally – ants to elephants.

A selection of Mr. Mavros’ African themed, custom designed and hand-sculpted sterling silver cuff links and women’s bangles are now available for purchase at the Black Knight Shop located at http://www.garyplayer.com/shop.  A percentage of each sale will be donated to our foundation to help underprivileged children across the globe.
