Gary was the champion again with a 289 score, 2 shots in front of Jack Nicklaus and Bob Charles. Player hit a 3 wood at the 14th hold, the “spectacles” one foot from the hole. At that stage he was only one shot ahead. This was a great eagle 3. Gary jigged around like a delighted boy and it seems to be one of his happiest moments in his life! It was a victory of tremendous significance for him.
