GARY PLAYER, RENEE POWELL, MICKEY WRIGHT, LEWIS WORSHAM LEAD INDUCTEES TO PGA OF AMERICA HALL OF FAME

Gary Player, Renee Powell, Mickey Wright and Lew Worsham, a foursome that impacted American and global golf, lead a class of seven inductees to be enshrined in the PGA of America Hall of Fame. The 2017 class, to be honored Nov. 2, at the PGA’s 101st Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, also features 2012 PGA Golf Professional of the Year Michael Schultz of Tequesta, Florida; Joe Tesori of Dewitt, New York; and the late visionary golf administrator George Henry Schneiter, formerly of Salt Lake City. “The PGA of America takes great pride in welcoming this exceptional class into the PGA Hall of Fame. GOLF MANAGEMENT EUROPE: A CONVERSATION WITH GARY PLAYER

At what age did you first become interested in golf, and did you always have a desire to become a professional sportsman? The quartet was unrelenting throughout their round, posting 16 birdies and one eagle to shoot 18 under and capture another Greats of Golf title. Shortly before he striped a 200-plus yard drive down the middle of the fairway on the first hole at TPC Twin Cities, Jack Nicklaus lamented his golf game at 77 years old as, “frustrating.” The golfer with more majors than anyone said it’s now trying to play because he’s unable to hit the shots that helped him win 18 majors and 73 PGA tournaments, amassing a resume that makes him the best golfer ever. “But we had our time and we had our day,” Nicklaus said. While he said he doesn’t play much, Nicklaus picked up the […]
