CHUBB CLASSIC: GARY PLAYER COVERS HOGAN, CHURCHILL, MORE, IN PRESS CONFERENCE

Legendary is an appropriate word when introducing Gary Player and a discussion the World Golf Hall of Famer had Thursday morning, touching on historical figures, golf, travel and his primary mission, proper fitness and diet for the world. Player had a session with the media in advance of hitting the honorary first tee shot around 9:30 a.m. Friday to open the 30th Chubb Classic at The TwinEagles Club. Dressed in full black, befitting his Black Knight nickname, the 81-year-old Player gave no concession to his age, even surmising that he feels and lives life as if he were 25. Player addressed the topics, not with 10-second, 10-word sound bites but in detail, leaving no doubt he is still a keen observer of the world today. But he started with talking about the 1988 Aetna Challenge, which he edged Dave Hill to win at The Club at Pelican Bay. “I just […]

CART-POOL KARAOKE: #GOLFANDGIVING AND A LOT OF FUN AT THE 2017 GARY PLAYER INVITATIONAL IN ABU DHABI

The results were…well, see for yourself: In a surprise to no one, Player had the best pipes of the bunch. The rest, however, might need a vocal lesson or two before stepping up to the mic again. (Looking at you, Chris Wood.) All for venturing outside your lane of expertise. Moreover, who are we to rain on the joy […]

WATCH: GARY PLAYER SPRINTING ON A TREADMILL IS THE MOTIVATION YOU NEED

The fittest man in golf is not Rory McIlroy or Dustin Johnson. No, it is 81-year-old Gary Player who claims he does over 1,000 situps a day and clearly stays in tip-top condition. This video of him grinding out some treadmill time is proof of that. I’m 31, and I’m not sure I could book it as quickly as Player does here. The look on the man’s face next to him is also pretty priceless. As if he has no clue that this crazy man next to him has nine career major championships. Article courtesy of CBS Sports.
