Gary Player Invitational - South Africa
Welcome to South Africa’s premiere charity golf event. This year sees the ninth playing of this extraordinary event, a gathering of golfers, businessmen and celebrities who have raised more than R25 million for worthy causes.
Tournament Format
The Gary Player Invitational is unique in the world of golf in that it partners a top businessman, a top celebrity, a regular tour player and a champion’s tour player in a Team format where all can contribute to the final result. The two best net scores (of any of the four players) on each hole will count. The team recording the best score over 36 holes will be declared the winner.
There is also a Betterball Competition in which the Team is made up of a Senior Tour and a Regular Tour professional golfer. The best Betterball score on each hole will count. The team recording the best score over 36 holes will be declared the winner and receive R250,000 in prize money.
A Pro-Am is held on the Friday, 28th November 2008, and offers event Sponsors the opportunity to entertain their clients in a very unique manner, as prospective or current clients are paired with professional golfers and celebrities from the main field.
