The Chubb Classic released its final field Tuesday for next week’s 30th anniversary tournament.
The PGA Tour Champions event will be Feb. 14-19 at The TwinEagles Club and include eight past champions, 10 World Golf Hall of Fame members and 35 of the top 36 players from the 2016 Charles Schwab Cup standings.
“We are very excited to announce our field list this year, as it has all the makings to be one of the best on tour this season,” tournament director Matt Hilliker said. “Having the legends of golf in our back yard is such a unique opportunity for our local golf fans and we look forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary with such a strong field next week.”
Three-time champion Bernhard Langer leads the field, which also includes newcomers John Daly, Jose Maria Olazabal and David Tom. 2010 champion Fred Couples is back for the second year in a row, and Miguel Angel Jimenez also is in it for the first time.
Jay Haas, Rocco Mediate, John Harris, Gary Hallberg, Loren Roberts, Jeff Sluman are all in the field and members at Naples’ Calusa Pines Golf Club. Roberts also is a former champion, winning in 2006 and 2009.
Kirk Triplett, the 2014 champion, will not play. He’ll be at parents weekend at Notre Dame. Triplett is the only one out of the top 36 on the Schwab standings from last year who isn’t playing.
